Coast to Coast...
The Coast to Coast path owes its existence to one man: Alfred Wainwright. And I owe him for devising one long (191 miles) pub crawl. I first stumbled upon this walk while attending a friend's wedding in Kenmore, Scotland. One the way home, we ended up in England's Lake District through which part of the Coast to Coast runs. Had a conversation with a couple of elderly women who were in obvious foot distress (new shoes and no training) but they were enjoying themselves nonetheless. Louise and I tried once before years ago but England's hoof and mouth epidemic throughout its farmland wiped out an entire season of walking. Decided to give it another try for my 50th birthday so here I am.
